WHAT TYPE OF EDUCATION TO CHOOSE ?

China has a global reputation for excellence in higher education, offering a variety of diverse programs and unparalleled academic richness. With renowned universities, innovative programs, and a dynamic learning environment, China attracts students from around the world seeking quality education and an enriching experience.

The Chinese higher education system primarily consists of three levels:

  • Benke : Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree, it requires 4 years of study. This degree allows for access to a master’s program or employment opportunities.
  • Shuo Shi : Equivalent to a master’s degree, it takes 1 to 3 years to complete. This program is only accessible through competitive exams to holders of a Benke (Bachelor’s Degree). The number of available spots is very limited.
  • Bo Shi : Equivalent to a doctoral degree, it takes 3 to 5 years to complete. This level is highly elite and reserved for the most prestigious universities. Candidates are admitted based on their academic records and must demonstrate a distinguished academic background. A good level of English and Mandarin is mandatory.

NB : There’s two types of programs :

  • Chinese Language Programs : Many Chinese universities offer intensive Chinese language programs for international students to help them improve their language skills.

  • English Language Programs : Some Chinese universities also offer programs taught in English, which makes it easier for international students who do not yet master Chinese.

Language requirements vary depending on the specific program and university in China. Here are some common language requirements :

  1. Mandarin (Chinese) : For programs taught in Mandarin, international students are often required to demonstrate sufficient proficiency in Chinese. This can be assessed using standardized tests such as the HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi).
  2. English : For programs taught in English, international students usually need to provide proof of their English proficiency. This can be evidenced by scores from standardized English tests such as IELTS or TOEFL.

Admissions to Chinese universities are generally based on several criteria, including :

  1. Academic record
  2. Language requirements
  3. Motivation letter
  4. Recommendation Letters
  5. Interview
  6. JW202 Form

It’s important to check the specific admission requirements for each program you are applying to, as they can vary based on the level of study, discipline, and university.

Chinese institutions typically offer two admission sessions :

  • Fall session : Begins in September ;
  • Winter session : Generally begins in January.

Tuition fees vary depending on the university and the program. Universities located in major cities tend to have higher fees. The cost does not necessarily correlate with the quality of education. Generally, tuition fees range between 20,000 and 32,000 MAD (Moroccan Dirhams) per year. In some universities, accommodation fees are included.

STUDENT VISA FORMALITIES

To pursue your studies at a university in China, it is essential to obtain a X1 or X2 visa. Without these documents, you will not be able to enroll or attend classes in China. Make sure to start the administrative procedures well in advance to avoid any delays.

In China, there are primarily two types of visas for international students :

  2. Short-Term Student Visa (X2) : This visa is for international students who plan to stay in China for a period of six months or less. It is generally issued for short-term programs or internships.

After receiving your admission letter and the JW202 form, you can start the student visa application process. The visa you receive will be either « X1 » or « X2, » allowing you to reside in China as a student for up to six months. – Completed visa application form (available on the official website of the Chinese embassy).
– Latest bank statement with a stamped balance of 60,000 MAD or more, or a notarized sponsorship letter along with the sponsor’s latest bank statement containing the same amount.
